GambleAware opens applications for funding to reduce gambling harm

GambleAware will be setting up an open-access funding application process to reduce gambling harm, and provide support and treatment for those in need in the UK.

The funding will be for the 2023/24 financial year up until 31 March 2024. The first application round will open on 7 August 2023 and close on 21 August.

Only frontline services based in Great Britain which are directly delivering services to individuals affected or at risk of gambling harm will be eligible for the funding. The fund is for the continuation of a current project.

Funding applications will be prioritised in line with GambleAware’s framework. Organisations will need to demonstrate they meet one or more of its five requirements: preventing escalation of gambling harm, reducing gambling harm, ensuring communities receive a wide range of appropriate services, increasing awareness of gambling harm to the general population and/or preventing gambling harm from those most vulnerable in society. 

In addition, all applications will need to demonstrate the following: delivery model and approach, evidence of need,Online Casino Games value for money, sustainability and potential outcomes and impact.

Organisations will learn if their applications have been successful in mid-September 2023.

"However, this has led to a period of change as industry and the gambling harms research, prevention and treatment sector prepare to transition to the proposed levy.”
